Project finance in Sub-Saharan Africa

We bring African projects to the lenders who fund them.

VeraVis Capital is a London facilitator for project and SME finance. We prepare the lender file with the promoter, introduce it to banks, private credit and development finance that fit, and stay with it until the money arrives.

Who we work with

Two sides of one deal.

For project promoters

You have a project with assets, permits or contracts in hand, and a funding gap.

We help you build the file lenders read, and take it to the ones whose mandate fits. Typical needs are US$5–20m of senior debt.

For lenders and funds

You see fewer projects, screened against your mandate before they reach you.

Each one arrives with the promoter's track record, the security on offer, the offtake and a clear use of funds. Tell us what you lend against and we will only send what fits.

How a deal moves

Five steps from first call to funds received.

  1. 1

    First conversation

Tell us what the project is, where it is and what it needs. Within a call or two we will tell you plainly whether we can help, and what a lender is likely to ask first.

What to bring A short description, the amount and type of funding, and what is already in place.

  2. 2

    The lender file

This is where most of the work is. We go through the file a lender will read: information memorandum, financial model, permits and title, offtake contracts, security. Where something is missing, we say so and help you close the gap.

What to bring Accounts, permits and licences, contracts, and the model if you have one.

  3. 3

    Matched introductions

We introduce the project only to funders whose mandate fits its ticket size, sector, country and structure: banks, private credit funds, development finance and impact investors. Each introduction goes with the file, and with us.

What we do Shortlist, approach, and run the first meetings alongside you.

  4. 4

    Structure and security

Once a lender is interested, the work turns to terms: tranches, tenor, covenants and security. Lenders in these markets often ask for a guarantee or standby letter of credit from a local bank, and we help line that up with yours.

What we do Keep both sides moving towards a term sheet that can close.

  5. 5

    Disbursement

We stay with the deal through the conditions for first drawdown, and on through each tranche until the funding reaches the project account.

What we do Track conditions precedent and keep the timetable honest.

Where we work

Across Sub-Saharan Africa, with the francophone markets at the centre of what we do.

Sectors we know: industrial processing, agriculture and agro-processing, energy and resources infrastructure, logistics and transport, manufacturing, healthcare.

How we are paid

Our fee follows the funding.

We are paid a percentage of the funding raised, as each tranche reaches the project.
